Church of the Nazarene is a Christian community that aims to love God and love their neighbour. Through close-knit fellowship, they support and challenge their congregants to live out their Christian faith in meaningful ways – reflecting God’s love for the world.
Made up of local residents, development workers, volunteers, students, tourists and more, the church stands on the foundations of a congregation that was established already in 1921 amongst the Armenian community living in Jerusalem. The church later evolved into an Arabic-speaking congregation and worshipped through Arabic for several decades. In 2008, the church moved to an English-speaking service, making itself available to people from all parts of the city, including the international community.
The Church of the Nazarene in Jerusalem is currently an international congregation (English speaking) that aims to see its Arabic congregation re-birthed in their worship place. With a passion for connecting and fostering ministry beyond their local congregation and denomination, the church wants to develop a family center to reach out to Arabic speaking families in East Jerusalem.
