Interview with King of Kings Worship

If you visited the capital of Israel, you have likely heard about the King of Kings Community Jerusalem (KKCJ). Over the past several decades the congregation of King of Kings has served visitors and locals alike with powerful worship and Biblical teaching. Throughout most of 2020 the services have been limited to streaming online. So, every week believers from the nations worshipped God and studied God’s Word right alongside residents of Jerusalem on their devices.

This year a new initiative developed out of KKCJ with a clear desire to bless the Body of Believers in Israel and internationally. The new project, called King of Kings Worship (KKW), launched just this fall. At FIRM, we got a chance to ask them a few questions about the heart of their work and what we can look forward to as they expand their mission.

FIRM: How did King of Kings Worship (KKW) come to be?

KKW: King of Kings Worship (KKW) was birthed out of the King of Kings Community Jerusalem congregation. The KKCJ worship team has had the privilege of ministering to hundreds if not thousands of people all across Israel and the nations for many years. About three years ago, our leadership sensed that God was expanding our vision for worship at King of Kings. We needed to develop a core team of worship leaders who would be the foundation for our future growth.

FIRM: What is the mission and purpose of KKW?

KKW: The vision of KKW is to celebrate, encourage and empower worship of Our God, the King of Kings and draw our communities into His presence where we can be transformed for His purposes and glory. Through production of original worship content and materials, we desire to be a resource for the global body of Messiah. We desire to help worship ministries grow and flourish.

FIRM: Who is part of King of Kings Worship?

KKW: Our team is made up primarily of our (mostly Israeli) leadership team, which formed over the past few years, and an exceptional group of professional musicians who are committed to the vision and mission of KKW. You can see the names and bios of our current team members on the KKW website.

FIRM: Why now, why in 2020?

KKW: A longing to see this vision develop has been burning in our hearts for a while already. As a team, we believe there has to be a sense of security and confidence with one another – not just musically but also as a community. It’s a sense of belonging. During this weird season of COVID-19, we have experienced constant lockdowns and had to settle for a small core worship team to serve the KKCJ services. This reality has allowed us to strengthen the existing connections between our leadership team and musicians. It has also created “space” in our weekly schedules to focus on creating original songs.

FIRM: Are you all currently in Israel? When traveling is once again permissible, do you plan on touring also?

KKW: Our team, consisting predominantly of Israelis, is based in Jerusalem. It is hard to estimate anything regarding traveling, nevertheless we believe that in the future we will be able to travel, also as a team. Ultimately however, it’s the other way around – we would love to see people come to Israel and join us at one of the KKCJ Sunday services or other events in the country. At the moment, we are focusing on serving our local community and developing resources that we can share with the world from a virtual platform.

FIRM: What platform is that? Is it already active?

KKW: Our primary outlet of new songs is our YouTube channel. We invite everyone to subscribe to the channel, and also to follow us on FB and IG (@KingOfKingsWorship)! We are continuing to develop new songs that we will ultimately release also on other platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, etc. But let’s not forget that you can always join us online for the KKCJ services every Sunday at 5:00pm IST!

FIRM: What can we do to support you?

KKW: First and foremost – you can support us in prayer! We believe that unity in the Spirit is the foundation of it all. We are grateful for everyone who has it on their heart to pray for our team on a regular basis! Additionally, due to the difficult economic situation in Israel, we have been raising funds for our leadership team and musicians, not all of whom would be receiving salaries otherwise. Nevertheless, they have been giving their time and talent to serve the Lord and His Kingdom. Having consistent funding will allow our team to dedicate more of our time and effort to this important work.
