Medallion Publishing in Israel

In every culture, the beautiful innocence of children highlights life’s most simple joys and biggest questions. Their curiosity and sometimes even their confusion remind us of what shaped us, what we’ve learned along the way, and how we came to be where we are today.

Building up a child’s faith and protecting their sense of wonder is a lifelong investment. In Israel, from an early age children are taught stories from the Bible not just as spiritual lessons, but also as their own national history. This unique context calls for a unique approach.

In 1974 Linda Graham, an American, was living in Israel with her family to support and invest in local communities of believers. Having connected with many pastors and leaders in the land, she noticed that there was only one book for children available in Hebrew, and it was translated from another language. It made her realize that Israel needs original materials in Hebrew!

Thanks to her passion and commitment, a small publishing house was established with children’s books in mind. In Hebrew, the name Medallion is an acronym for “From God’s Word to Children and Youth”.

The assortment of materials released by Medallion has grown over the years to include resources for children’s Bible studies, individual activities, and teaching materials – written and published in Hebrew.

Medallion creates resources for congregations, ministries, and families to teach children the Bible in the context of Israel. The desire to see children grow in their faith is one of Medallion’s main goals. The organization helps the children grow in their knowledge of God, with tools to apply what they have learned in their lives.

Medallion did not stop at releasing resources. The organization built a network to stay connected with congregations and their children’s teachers all around Israel. Through workshops, seminars and one-on-one trainings Medallion invests in leaders to develop their children’s ministry and their teaching skills.

The Bible teaches us that if we are faithful in the small things, God will entrust the great things to us. Medallion brings this verse to life in more ways than one. From a small office, and with a limited number of staff and volunteers, their work is a blessing nationwide. And by investing in the little ones, God is allowing Medallion to shape the future movers and shakers of Israel.
